Job Description:Position Re-advertisement -- Position Requirements Revised Maine InfoNet and The University of Maine System Libraries invite applications from enthusiastic, service-oriented individuals for the position of Library Support Specialist. The Library Support Specialist manages the implementation, operation, and customer support for the online research resources supporting the seven campus libraries of the University of Maine System as well as providing support and management for statewide services such as the MARVEL! databases and other statewide licensed resources. This position works collaboratively with the Maine InfoNet staff to configure and maintain services for patron authentication and access to the various to online library services that support the instructional, research and public outreach service functions of the University of Maine System and statewide library services. The Library Support Specialist also coordinates the collection, analysis and distribution of usage statistics for the various supported services. This position will be based out of the Maine InfoNet offices at the University of Maine in Orono and will report to the Executive Director of Maine InfoNet.
Qualifications:Required: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent extensive experience with information technology in a library setting; current experience with information technology use in libraries; demonstrated experience with customer service; excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills; creative problem solving and systematic organizational skills; and extensive computer experience including basic system administration skills; detailed technical knowledge of common web applications, browsers and web-authoring tools. Preferred: Demonstrated ability and commitment to provide a high level of service to libraries; experience with configuration and management of database programs; ability to design and run computer system queries; ability to design and implement systems to collect, maintain, and analyze usage data; and familiarity with network and systems administration across multiple operating systems including Windows and Unix based systems.
